Victoria Requiem

Saturday 3rd July 10pm | St Monans Church

Tickets: £13.50 Approx 1 hr

Belcea String Quartet

Dr Richard Holloway

Tallis Scholars
Peter Philips, director
Dr Richard Holloway, speaker

The Latin text of the Requiem has inspired many moving reflections on life and death. Tomas Luis de Victoria, the greatest Spanish composer of a brilliant age, created this sonorous setting in 1605 and its beauty sets it apart. The Tallis Scholars have performed this music for many years, and they are peerless as its interpreters. In pauses between sections, where perhaps prayers or sermons might have been heard, Dr Richard Holloway offers his own reflections on this most elemental theme.
