Debussy: Preludes
Virginia Woolf: Seascapes from The Waves
Why bring together Debussy and Virginia
Woolf? They were contemporaries, of course,
and have both been called 'Impressionists',
but above all they both loved the sea. Their
seascapes are among the most beautiful
and evocative ever created. So where
better to hear them than nearby one of
the loveliest coastlines of the British Isles.
Richard Holloway - a great admirer of
Woolf - interpolates extracts from her novel,
The Waves, among Williams' selection from
Debussy's Preludes.
