Weber: Extracts from Oberon

We may be a little late for midsummer night itself, but Mendelssohn's superb incidental music for Shakespeare's play is a pleasure to hear anytime. As a bonus it is complemented by some lovely miniatures from Weber's operatic retelling of the story - Oberon. Though how he manages to whisk his protagonists away from the nocturnal forest to the seas of Araby is anyone's guess. And join us to toast the close of ENF 08 with a glass of sparkling wine at the end of the concert.
