Starting as a member of the Dresdner Kreuzchor, he studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and then won the 1999 Wigmore Hall International Song Competition. He appears regularly in recital throughout the world, in venues including the Wigmore Hall; Carnegie Hall; Concertgebouw Amsterdam; Klavierfestival Ruhr; 92nd Street Y, New York and the Vocal Arts Series in Washington. He is familiar to Scottish audiences through appearance at the Edinburgh Festival, with the SCO (most memorably recently performing a set of orchestrated Schubert songs with them) and through regular appearances at Perth Concert Hall - notably at Perth's Schubertiad 2008.
