Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, Penka Petkova is currently a master’s student of Prof Stefan Popov’s cello class at Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. She has been a laureate of the international competitions Young Virtuosos in Sofia, M.A.G.I.C. for Austrian music in Burgas (Bulgaria), Concertino Praga, Karl Davidov in Kuldiga (Latvia), M Elsky in Minsk (Belarus), and a soloist of “Classic FM” Radio Bulgarian Orchestra, Latvian and Belarusian State Philharmonics.
Penka has participated in the chamber music festivals ‘Hindemith’ in Blonay Switzerland and ‘Musica Mundi’ in Belgium. She has refined her skills in the master classes of Jérôme Pernoo, Prof Vladimir Perlin, Mats Lidstrom, Gavriel Lipkind, Seeli Toivio, and Martin Zeller. She has had solo and chamber music recitals in Bulgaria, Macedonia, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Germany, England and USA. Penka had her debut with her piano trio at Wigmore Hall, performing Ravel’s Trio, in June 2017. Later in July, Penka was a soloist of the chamber music orchestra during the Amadeus summer academy in Somerset where she performed Dvorak’s Cello Concerto.
